Conservation
Part of our mission is to get more land in the valley, especially along the river, protected from excessive development. We seek out landowners who are interested in placing their land under a conservation easement or selling and connect them with our land trust partners (Blue Ridge Conservancy and Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy). We raise money to fund these permanent protection projects.

We organize volunteer work days when action is needed, such as removing toxic trash from the river after Hurricane Helene, or removing woody debris from the river by hand to prevent heavy equipment from destroying habitat.
Education is also a big part of what we do - from encouraging best practices for reducing run-off and erosion, to demonstrating re-vegetation techniques and providing native seed mix after Hurricane Helene.
